Happy New Year to all!

December was a busy month for us, as we brought the ewes indoors ready for lambing; they’ve all been scanned and hopefully come February we’ll have a lot of lambs springing around the farm! Our two farm shop open days were very hectic, despite not doing turkeys in 2023 we seem to have done twice as many chickens, as well as a huge amount of pork and lamb. So thankyou to everyone for your orders and support throughout 2023. We hope you enjoyed your Christmas dinners!

Now onto what the next couple of months will bring…

January will hopefully be a bit quieter around the farm. We’ve just had a litter of Berkshire piglets which we’ll get outside as soon as it’s warm enough. And all the sheep are now in the polytunnels ready for lambing. It means Richard spends a lot of time feeding them and giving them fresh straw and hay every day, but when we start lambing they appreciate being tucked up in the warm straw pens (as do we when we’re out delivering lambs at 3am!).

Our farm shop will be open again for pork and lamb orders on 2nd and 3rd February (Friday 9.30 – 4, Saturday 9 – 2), so please contact us if you’d like to place an order. You can do this via our web contact form, email, Facebook, Instagram or telephone (please see our contact page for full details). After this, we will be closed until the end of March, as February and March are the busiest months for us as we get through the bulk of the lambing. For Easter, we will be open in late March on Good Friday (9 – 12) and Saturday 30th (9 – 1); order books are already open, so again please let us know if you’d like any lamb, pork or chicken for then.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed for more mild weather, but hopefully not quite so much rain for the next few months!
