Christmas is almost upon us, which means we’re on the countdown to lambing ’25…2 months to go! We’ve brought the ewes indoors now so we can split them into groups depending on how many lambs they’re having, allowing us to ensure they each receive the optimum amount of space and nutrition. Our scanning man is arriving on Saturday so we’ve got everything crossed for big numbers by Saturday night! We aim to scan and lamb at around 200%, which means that each ewe will have, on average, 2 lambs. They’re all capable of rearing at least 2 lambs, but sometimes we end up having to take a triplet or 2 quads off the ewe and bottle feed them which is very costly so would rather be avoided. There’s nothing we can do at this stage though, so it’s a case of having fingers crossed and playing the waiting game. And hopefully our new tup, Angus, will have worked well!
Moving onto the shop, we had a great opening weekend in November and the order book is getting rather full for Christmas! We’ve now sold out of chickens, but do still have some pork and lamb available to order. We need to have orders in by this Friday (6th) to absolutely guarantee availability; after that it’ll be down to first come first served on what we have left. You can order through the ‘Contact us’ page on our website, FB/Instagram direct message, e-mail, or telephone. All orders will be ready for collection on the following dates:
Sunday 22nd December 10am til 4pm
Monday 23rd December 9am til 4pm
Our next opening will be 31st Jan / 1st Feb.
